Throughout the season, viewers witnessed murders, double-crosses, intense glares, and an unforgettable incident that cut through all suspense.

Yet on the final evening, the ultimate victor of the first Celebrity Traitors emerged triumphant.

Out of nineteen participants, only five were left standing: Traitors and loyal players competing for the prize.

Before long, the field narrowed to just three: the remaining contestants.

In the end, comedian Alan Carr emerged as the winner, in a surprising result that went viral and made him tearful.

"It's been tearing me apart, I'm so sorry," he declared, revealing to the other players that he'd always been a traitor. "I'm an awful human being."

"You played amazingly," they consoled him. "Everything's fine."

Social media immediately exploded with the news. "The worst deceiver being the most effective player," commented a viewer.

"It couldn't have been a more iconic ending," wrote a different person, while someone else called it "the television highlight of the year."

The organization he selected, Neuroblastoma UK, will receive all the prize money, with the final pot reaching eighty-seven thousand five hundred pounds.

Alan Carr's transformation from giggle liability to strategic player was among the most memorable aspects of the series.

But his win still shocked viewers surprised, as noted by industry observers.

"The thought of him, of all people, executing a masterclass in deception felt just as probable as him keeping composure through his comedy routines."

On subsequent discussions, the other contestants explained why no one had ever really suspected him.

"Let's face it, I began this game a bit of a nervous wreck. I've betrayed close allies to save myself, I've murdered beloved figures in plain sight. Apparently I'm a better liar and player than I believed."

At the same time, another contestant commented that being in the final was "way more stressful than competing with a national team", while another said he was "totally surprised" to have lasted this long.

Early on of the finale, several players appeared to be making a bid to become the new style icon of the competition, replacing an earlier departed style leader.

Carr emerged at the morning meal looking like a 1950s US chat show host in a checked maroon suit, later switching into an embellished light-colored outfit.

But he was outstyled by another contestant's maroon velvet tuxedo. Impressive style.

Following this was the competition, with the remaining contestants getting on board a locomotive called - of course - The Traitors Express.

The challenge saw them destroying portraits of eliminated players. Have sympathy for a player who managed to get hit on the head THREE times by the cover of a heavy wooden box.

Before long, the moment arrived for the roundtable.

The deceivers did a pinky promise beforehand, pledging to support each other. "We've progressed significantly, I'm not going to betray him," said one, while the other just giggled.

However, one did stick to their agreement. Yet, having slipped under the radar for the majority of the competition, their partner still got the most votes.

The last deceiver appeared he was in significant distress to be the last traitor standing. "Now I'm on my own, I'm frightened," he said. "I'm a loose cannon, a rudderless ship."

Social media and viewers were equally disappointed.

"I did NOT want this contestant to be eliminated. A truly loveable traitor," commented an observer.

"Your legacy will remain in Traitors history," wrote another user.

But there was little opportunity to focus on their elimination. Soon, the game reached the final stage - this being what we were really all here for.

The last players gathered around the ceremonial fire. Meanwhile, the partnership collapsed, precisely when it mattered the most, in a truly WTF moment.

One contestant was painfully banished - following a surprising decision from their partner, who turned against them.

"This pains me to be betrayed at the final moment like that," said the eliminated player. Later, we learned that when they message, the betrayed player refers to their former ally by a betrayer's name.

Finally, only three contestants were still competing: the last participants.

A contestant, looking incredibly smug, chose to conclude the game. The same decision was made by a different player, and it all came down to the third, who made the identical choice - which meant that the traitor emerged victorious.

According to commentators, the scene where remaining contestants comforted the champion was "beautiful TV". "I anticipate it will be in the running for outstanding scene at next year's awards," they said.

Fortunately, the champion quickly regained composure from his emotional outburst, and was able to enjoy his victory.

"Such an emotional journey. I was awful at lying, I had no poker face and now I stand the champion," he said.

He also made light of that infamous murder - his best friend during the initial stages - by reaching over the presenter in the concluding moments and touching her cheek.

"You've got something on your face," he said, with his trademark giggle.

The last few weeks of famous people scheming, scheming and the occasional unexpected moments may seem like a bizarre fantasy. Yet it actually occur. It will be remembered fondly.
