Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are confirmed to return for the new Hunger Games series film, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
News has broken that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the latest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.
A Significant Comeback for the Franchise
The duo are slated to play Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. It is believed their cameos will probably be featured in a future-set scene, considering the original saga concluded with their characters living in peace.
This signifies the sixth installment in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a newly published work by series creator Suzanne Collins. It acts as the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed nearly all the previous films in the series.
A New Era in Panem
The film's events are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, focusing on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.
The supporting roles feature several accomplished actors in key parts:
- Jesse Plemons steps into the role of Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes will appear as a younger version of the calculating President Snow.
What the Stars Are Doing Now & The Film's Schedule
Separately, Jennifer Lawrence stars in the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson recently appeared in the successful franchise Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
