Major Russian Attacks Cut Electricity In Kyiv

Power facilities under attack in the region
The country's energy systems have faced escalating strikes in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Several individuals were wounded while local people in eastern districts were experienced blackouts and dealt with disruption to drinking water, according to municipal leaders.

Meanwhile, a young boy was killed in a separate Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the southern area, based on information from regional authorities.

Moscow has increased assaults on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while the country's government has requested "concrete actions" from allies to exert influence on Russia.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the America, Europe and the Group of Seven - in delivering defensive weapons and implementing restrictions," was stated in a online statement.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen projectiles attacked the country's power systems, describing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Russia was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were laboring to repair systems.

A wave of strikes struck energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in the capital.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the assaults on the city have been taken to hospital, as confirmed by local officials.

Local officials said the city endured significant strikes overnight. A minor died and three other people were wounded.

The attacks come after nights of bombing campaigns in the region, parts of which are occupied by Moscow's military.

The entire country is on alert for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are more difficult to spot.

National leaders told reporters that Russia was purposely seeking to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already impacting energy systems.

Officials stated technical personnel and government agencies were bracing for more assaults.
