Miami scored 86 first-half scores versus the Grizzlies

The Heat earned a decisive 146-114 win against the Grizzlies in their initial basketball game since guard Terry Rozier was arrested for suspected unlawful sports betting.

Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups was also detained in connection with a broad federal investigation into illegal gambling. The two individuals contest the allegations.

But, the Miami team were not distracted as they recorded eighty-six first-half scores to be ahead of Memphis by 39 at halftime, the biggest half-time advantage in the team's 37-year existence.

Adebayo led the way with 24 points and later said Rozier had the support of the team.

"We stand behind him. Full support," Adebayo said. "We are with him all the way. That's our brother at the end of the day."

Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra added: "Terry is somebody who is very dear to everyone. He has made a beneficial influence on our locker room.

"Our thoughts are with him and support for him as he faces this."

The Trail Blazers additionally secured their first game after the detentions, with Brazil-born Tiago Splitter taking over as interim coach in Chauncey's absence and guiding the squad to a decisive 139-119 win over the Golden State Warriors.

"Everyone experienced great experiences with Billups and how he coached," Tiago said. "We're thinking of him and his family but we have a job to do."

NBA Commissioner Silver 'Disturbed' over Recent Events

Speaking about the arrests for the initial occasion, league head Adam Silver stated he was "very upset" by the incidents of the past few days.

"Nothing is more critical to the league and its fans than the integrity of the competition," he informed Amazon Prime. "And so I had a pit in my stomach. It was disturbing."

"Therefore, we've been cooperating since then. And, of course, what they announced recently was an indictment.

"Moreover two and a half years later, he still hasn't been convicted of any offense, in fairness to Terry.

"Clearly, it appears unfavorable, but he's been put on administrative leave, and so it is a balance here between protecting people's rights and investigating."

Rockets were beaten 115-111 by the Detroit Pistons despite 37 points from Kevin Durant, while Wembanyama had twenty-nine points, 11 rebounds and 9 rejections in the San Antonio Spurs' extra-time victory against the Pelicans.
