A plane transporting Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was required to make an unplanned landing in the UK on Wednesday due to a fissure was identified in the jet's front window, per an official announcement which verified that Hegseth was safe.

"The aircraft landed based on standard protocol and all individuals on the flight, among them Pete Hegseth, is secure," a spokesperson commented in a online announcement.

Hegseth was returning from a short visit to the Belgian capital when the incident occurred.

This occurrence is not the first time that a US military aircraft carrying a top government figure has encountered technical problems.

Earlier this year, a American military jet carrying the US Secretary of State to Munich was forced to head back to the US capital after suffering a technical issue.
