Tuchel Wants Jude Bellingham's Aggression Provided The Three Lions' Ace Leaves His Ego at the Door.

One snub did the trick. A second one and it would have started to look vindictive from the England manager, who is far too wily not to know that claiming the World Cup trophy demands the involvement of the talented midfielder, even if it is equally up to the player to fit into the tactical structures and squad hierarchies required with the national team now that he is back in the manager's warm embrace.

The manager seeks his aggressive mentality, his fire, but it is about harnessing it in the right way. Individual quality is important but England have learned the hard way that there is consequences when stardom takes over. Nevertheless, a message has been sent.

Bellingham had plenty to reflect on after his omission of last month’s squad. He watched the national side secure their spot at the upcoming World Cup without him. He saw Morgan Rogers perform brilliantly as a high-pressing attacking midfielder. He heard Tuchel mention loving the team's dynamism and ethics. Inevitably, Bellingham has reacted in champion style, finding the back of the net for his club against their rivals and the Italian side. He had to be picked; leaving him out again would have put his tournament chances in serious doubt.

The expectation is that Tuchel will have a midfielder focused on frightening rivals rather than his own colleagues. After all, from a tactical perspective, there is no advantage to starting a conflict with one of the best players in the world. The ideal scenario is that his period on the sidelines has made him realize that playing for one's country is a valuable, precarious thing. The coach, for his part, can now provide cover for the 22-year-old after showing that he is not afraid to take tough decisions.

“No issue exists regarding him, and no concern about his personality,” Tuchel commented. “Bellingham displays that aggression. You need a certain edge to reach the heights that he reached. Everyone need to support him and create a setting which he can channel that intensity towards opponents and in pursuit of success we are working towards as a team.”

Bellingham dominated the spotlight at the manager's selection reveal for this month’s final group games against one opponent and Albania. Who else? Indeed, what about Phil Foden? Here is a further gifted No 10 who needs support and direction. Foden has been absent for England since March and has found it hard to perform well this year but the boss could not ignore the 25-year-old after his display in Manchester City’s win versus Borussia Dortmund recently.

The question, though, is the best way to deploy the multiple playmakers at the team's disposal. Morgan Rogers and Eze have earned their places and there will be a good argument to pick Cole Palmer once he overcomes a ongoing injury. Would taking multiple creators to the tournament be too many? Gareth Southgate failed to discover the correct balance at the European Championship. He made concessions by forcing Foden and Bellingham into the team, cramping the captain's influence as a result.

It seems unlikely the current manager doing similar if it harms the attacking balance. Space exists for a single playmaker, with quick attackers on the wings. Clear roles is beneficial. Bellingham is selected as a No 10. The new call-up, called up for the first time, is a No 8 and the recalled Wharton will battle Elliot Anderson as a defensive midfielder. There will also be no wide role for Foden, who must play through the middle. The coach wants him close to the striker. “It does not make sense to tell Phil: ‘You are needed in the team but no spot exists on your best position, could you fill in at the left side? Can you play other flank?’” he stated. “Phil will play in the advanced midfield role, in the middle of the pitch. I've long had this idea regarding him for years. In my view it fits his style the most.”

He agreed there are times when Foden has not looked himself in an England shirt. “You feel almost like, ‘Does he really enjoy it? And someone of his caliber who has obvious passion to play football, then obviously an issue exists, whether it's the position, the setup, it's unclear.

“I think he is additionally accustomed to playing for Man City in a certain structure, to have a clear task. Believe he benefits greatly from clear instructions. What is my position? In which positions am I to receive the ball? When should I to accelerate the match? Where do I have to defend?

Tuchel mentioned one star making runs for easy finishes and Foden netting goals from 18 yards. He added he has a extended list of many candidates. Morgan Gibbs-White, others, the goalkeeper and the midfielder have dropped out. Nico O’Reilly is recognized for his excellent performances for Manchester City at defense. Interest abounds.

The omission of the striker means there is no like-for-like alternative for the captain in the selection. Interestingly, Tuchel suggested deploying Foden as a deep-lying striker against Serbia or Albania. Anthony Gordon, the United forward, Bellingham and Jarrod Bowen are alternatives if he be unavailable. Since the place is booked, this is an opportunity for trying new things.

At the same time, it is also a chance to foster Kane’s relationship with Bellingham flowing. It is remarkable that one must look back to Bellingham assisting Kane to net in a friendly win versus the Scots in September 2023 to find the one and only time in many appearances for the national team when the pair linked up for a goal. Tuchel will be aware that the two stars only exchanged the ball once during the team's ties with one opponent and Slovenia at the European Championship. Their partnership is lacking.

“At this point eventually it falls to the duty of the players,” Tuchel stated. He does not shy away to speak frankly. There is still a feeling of Bellingham under scrutiny. He cannot even be guaranteed to begin against Serbia and Albania. Tuchel desires Bellingham onside but he will be monitoring him carefully. Leave the ego outside. It will make a powerful squad into an even better one.
